Why am I needed?
We are so proud of our network of Headway shop volunteers across the UK.
However, we can’t do this without your help. Our shops in local communities are crucial to us raising vital funds. So, we’d like you to volunteer your time and commitment to help us make a difference. We need you to help be the friendly face that looks after our customers by greeting them, assisting them and processing their items through the till. Sorting stock and dressing windows.
What will I be doing?
Speaking with customers, making them welcome and answering questions. Serving customers at the till and accepting donations from the public. Putting goods on display in the shop. Maintaining high levels of shop standards, presentation and cleanliness. Promoting awareness of the charity and the services that we provide.
What skills do I need?
Willingness to work as a team and have some fun! Trustworthy, polite, helpful and friendly A warm smile! Creative skills - to help with displays & window dressing.
How much time do I need to commit?
It's up to you! We are flexible to work around your other commitments. Any time you can give will help us.
Ideally we would like you to help on a set shift(s) each week - this way our Manager can plan the team so that we haven't got 5 volunteers on one day and none the next!
Many of our volunteers help out for one or two 3-hour shifts a week, either morning or afternoon to suit you.
What support will I be given?
Before starting with Headway, we ask that you visit the Shop Manager in the shop so we can see how the role may suit you. Following that the Shop Manager and team will be on hand to advise and provide training. You will never be on your own and there will always be someone to ask for help if you need it. Becoming a volunteer with Headway can be a rewarding experience and is certainly invaluable to the charity and its goals.
