Purpose
To be responsible for the timely and accurate billing, collection and credit control of c.£350m per annum across 1,300 customers. This new role has been created as a result of the continued growth of the business, with its movement into new territories and completing recent acquisitions, this has resulted in the requirements of this team increasing and becoming more complex.
Partnering with key stakeholders in the business, is a key requirement of the role, supporting the business to grow at pace by developing billing and collection processes which are compliant but versatile to meet the changing needs of the business.
The role sits within the wider Finance Operations team, supporting Next’s Retail, Online and Total Platform Partner businesses.
To support the Financial Controller with documenting E2E processes, identifying any risk in the process and recommending improved financial controls where appropriate. Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 4 FTE to ensure timely and accurate billing and collections.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product (Home/Fashion), Commercial Finance, Compliance, International Finance, Franchise and Wholesale teams to resolve billing, collection and credit control issues.
- Monitor and report on key billing and collections metrics, using data to drive decision-making and process improvements.
- Work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders to ensure consistent processes and practises across the organisation.
- Regularly review billing and collections processes and documentations to ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulatory requirements
- Work with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and forecasting.
- Identify opportunities for streamlining and enhancing the billing, collections and credit control process
- Business Partnering
- Act as a SME providing billing process solutions to key stakeholders, enabling growth into new territories.
- Work collaboratively with the business to assess the business’s exposure to identify possible risks with new deals and partnerships.
- Team Management
- Continuously develop the team to have the right level of capability and competence and to consistently deliver the highest standards of compliance.
- Ensure the team is highly organised and adaptable to the changing needs of the business.
Experience
- Experience in credit control/billing/collection related areas in EU, preferably in retail companies
- Experience at designing and using dashboards to report on performance and insight based decision making
- Strong Team and stakeholder management experience
