A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SALES MANAGER AT WOTTON HOUSE HOTEL

We are looking for a passionate, dynamic and results-focused individual to join our commercial dream team and continue to build on the hotel’s success. The perfect candidate will be someone with a proactive mindset who can successfully account manage key clients, hunt for new business, and ultimately drive revenue into our fantastic hotel. Here you will report directly into the Director of Sales and work with a variety of different clients, industries, and segments.

What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the Director of Sales, you can expect your working day to include the following:

  • Proactively uncover new prospects for the hotel and maximise conversion of new business
  • Work within current business strategies and recognise potential opportunities
  • Heavily assist in converting enquiries and achieving our annual budget
  • Build and grow the relationships with our key clients
  • Respond to corporate RFPs and contract corporate accounts
  • Negotiate room rates/packages with corporate clients
  • Analyse the local market trends and competitor activity to identify hotel leads
  • Host clients, arrange FAM trips and attend industry events on behalf of the hotel
  • Ensure effective communication with other hotel departments to enable the smooth operation of in-house groups and functions
  • Assist the Director of Sales with sales reporting and any additional sales tasks required
  • Input enquiries into SalesForce and ensure the system is continuously updated

To succeed in the role of Sales Manager, you will need the following qualities and skills:

  • Previous experience working in a hotel
  • Previous experience working in a Sales or GCE team
  • Proactive sales experience is preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Is proactive, likes to be creative and has a passion for sales and hunting for new business
  • A positive attitude and superb work ethic

Our History

We are proud of our rich history, which makes us so unique. The Estate dates back to the 16th Century, when it was sold by Henry Owen to the Evelyn family. John Evelyn, one of three sons of Richard Evelyn, was passionate about botanicals and arboriculture and was particularly spellbound by the Italian Renaissance gardens he had seen on his tour of Italy. Inspired by what he had discovered on his travels, on his return to Wotton he constructed an Italian garden and temple, designed by his cousin, Captain George Evelyn, which was soon joined by a parterre garden complete with an Italian fountain.

Since this time, the estate has been passed through the Evelyn family, who have all been passionate about preserving John’s legacy, whilst adding their own eccentricities to the estate. Not so long ago, you may have even discovered Kangaroos on the lawn.

We were home to the Canadian Army during the Second World War and in 1947 it became a fire training centre for The Home Office. Soon afterwards, the house became the national Fire Service College.

Today, our house is a home from home; a place where you will create unforgettable memories that will stay with you long after you leave.
