We are recruiting a School Estates and Operations Director for a wonderful secondary school and sixth form in Lambeth!
The School Estates and Operations Director will provide the overall strategic leadership and management for all aspects of the Estate, Health and Safety, building projects, contract maintenance, IT, community usage, catering, premises, and logistics across the site. The School Estates and Operations Director will develop, lead, and manage operational and premises staff ensuring that the resources and systems of the school are deployed effectively and efficiently.
School Estates and Operations Director Duties Include:
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of all facilities management services of the school estate; ensuring that the school is well-maintained, safe, and secure for all site users.
- Lead on the school’s statutory compliance (School Premises Regulations 2012) requirements, including contract procurement, systems set-up, staff training and implementation of policies & procedures.
- Manage the school’s estates budget, ensuring that spend is managed in line with approved budgets and input into termly forecast/budgeting process, analysing and reviewing strategic plans for school’s operational areas.
- Ensure that all mechanical, electrical, and public health installations are fully operational and manage all utilities, in order to ensure quality of service and cost-optimisation.
- Work with the Regional/Central Estates team to project manage capital building projects, ensuring identifying appropriate funding sources, writing proposals for expenditure and delivery within scope, time, and finance.
- To manage, maintain and support staff in the operation of IT systems including telephony, logistics, CCTV etc.
- Achieve the most competitive pricing for goods and services for the school, complying with current and relevant procurement legislation and school’s policies.
- Strategic oversight to work with and develop the Premises Assistants to manage out of hours cover, investigate, and respond to emergency callouts as needed, Health and Safety at Work requirements. This can be physically demanding at times.
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
- IOSH certification (desirable).
- Relevant first aid qualification (desirable).
- Trained in one or more of the following – plumbing, general and ground maintenance, electrical/building maintenance, heating systems.
- Experience in building maintenance or other relevant experience, ideally within an educational setting.
