The School of Health Sciences is seeking a highly motivated and experienced senior professional to join its leadership team as School Manager. The School is one of eight Schools with annual income of around £19 million and almost 120 staff. Nursing is ranked 1st in Scotland for Graduate Prospects (The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023) World-leading research across disciplines (83% impact in most recent REF) We develop a community of socially responsible healthcare professionals who are innovative, forward thinking and have a positive impact on health, locally and globally The School of Health Sciences’ vision is underpinned by its aspiration to achieve excellence in all its activities. At its heart is a commitment to an inclusive community for its students, staff and stakeholders and to providing transformative health sciences’ education and research Your priorities will include: Supporting the Dean in the strategic development, management and administration of the School Providing effective leadership for the day-to-day operations of the School Providing leadership for the administrative development of new programmes, partnerships and other enterprise activities Effective management of the School’s budget, resources and facilities Ensuring effective communication across and beyond the School Working with others to create and promote a positive work environment Who we’re looking for: Educated to degree level, preferably to Masters level Senior management experience in a higher education institution Knowledge and understanding of the key issues facing universities in Scotland High level business planning, financial awareness and strategic thinking skills Excellent written and oral communications skills, with a proven ability to influence and persuade effectively If possible, experience of working in a health or related area of higher education Application and Selection Applications, in the form of a CV and covering letter setting out succinctly how you believe you meet the person specification and have the skills to fulfil the duties and responsibilities, should be submitted through the University’s recruitment website by Thursday 29th February 2024.
