School Site Manager

Rufford Primary and Nursery School is a family focused, welcoming school and we need a new Site Manager.The vacancy has arisen because our current Site Manager has moved on to a new, more challenging job at another Nottingham primary school. He has left the school in very good condition. During his time at Rufford all asbestos has been removed, the school has been fully re-roofed and brand-new boilers have been installed. Although, he has moved on, he is keen to support our new Site Manager as they familiarise themselves with the role.
The hours are Monday to Friday – 6am to 2pm (a new site assistant is also being appointed to cover locking up etc. at the end of the day).
The Site Manager will also be the primary key holder and will be expected to attend the school ‘out of hours’ in the event of incidents.
We use Nottingham City Council for our cleaning service and the Site Manager is the first point of contact for any issues with the service.
In order to keep school costs down the Site Manager will need to have a relevant technical specialism for example plumbing, joinery and / or electrical repairs. We will also expect the Site Manager to be capable of undertaking a range of day to day repairs.
We are excited by the opportunities outdoor learning offers and have recently developed various outdoor areas. The new Site Manager will be expected to maintain and develop these areas further.
We expect our school environment to be the best it possibly can for the children to learn in and the staff to teach in. This means it needs to be clean, tidy, organised, safe and welcoming. It is the Site Manager’s job to ensure this. We need our Site Manager to be organised and flexible. They will need to have lots of initiative and be able to find creative solutions when issues arise. We are looking for someone who has good literacy and computing skills.
School meals are cooked on the premises and are free for all staff if they sit with the children. Out of hours activities are also important to us. We run a very popular breakfast club before school and a number of after school clubs including after school childcare provision.
We hope applicants will have a lot of relevant experience already but we also know there will probably be further training requirements. We are strongly committed to the professional development of all staff and will ensure that the successful candidate is fully supported.
