Sports Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship
Lyng Hall School are looking for an inspirational sports apprentice that has a passion for inspiring children to fall in love with sport and to enjoy being active.
This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced staff to learn the interpersonal and management skills needed to work with young people and adults whilst also being given the opportunity to share your own expertise and think creatively about how to help the school move forward with PE.
Day-to-day duties may involve:
Work alongside teachers and coaches to deliver engaging and motivating
PE lessons, supervising and supporting the activities of individuals or
groups of children/young people to ensure their safety and facilitate
their physical and emotional development.
Organise and run extra-curricular sports clubs
Manage and train school team(s)
Attend team events ‘out of hours’ (time given in lieu)
Responsible for monitoring equipment stock and for tidying store cupboards
Wash and dry kit
Monitor individual pupil progress, achievements, problems, condition and development needs reporting to the responsible teacher as appropriate.
Working with more able pupils to help them attain the highest level they can.
Assist the teacher in the development, delivery and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care Programmes for individuals or groups of children as well as preparing and delivering programmes to support Special Needs
Assist the teacher with the planning of learning activities in the classroom and assist in equipment preparation for lessons in designated areas - preparing or modifying work for individuals or groups of pupils as directed.
Support the PE Leader in organising the participation of students in school activities, school clubs and school tournaments/competitions (both internal and external)
Become an active part of our team, prepared to go the extra mile for the benefit of our school community
Follow school policies and behave professionally
Maintain confidentiality inside and outside the workplace
You must have a clear DBS and DBA check (the school will arrange this

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport.
Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning Standard, 18 months practical with an additional 2 months End Point Assessment period.
Functional Skills in Maths, and English (if required).
Working Week and Hours: Term time only, 37.5 hours per week.
Salary: Apprenticeship wagefrom £6.40 per hour.
