What is The Mix?
The Mix is proud to be celebrating 10 years of youth work in our community. Our vision is to build a future in which every young person from any background can thrive and grow to become their best selves. A future in which young people become change makers, with clear confident voices that are heard above the noise. We walk together with young people as trusted partners who support, guide, inspire and empower them with this future in mind.
Overview of the post:
The purpose of this role is to provide youth work support within a secondary school in Mid Suffolk. The Youth Workers will be The Mix’s key link in school and therefore important ambassadors for our wider Mix programme of delivery.
An important aspect of the role will be connecting in with the wider community, developing partnerships, and working to increase the access and take up of existing opportunities for young people.
The Youth Workers will be responsible for identifying any themes and gaps in provision, listening to the needs and wants of young people, and using this to inform our provision of support based in school.
The post is ideally suited to confident, dynamic, and engaging Youth Workers with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidates will have a passion for inclusion and empowering young people to realise their potential.
We are looking for experienced Youth Workers who are enthusiastic about the opportunity to deliver youth work in a school setting. Working within a small team based across multiple secondary schools, we are looking for Youth Workers who are confident working on their own initiative as well as part of a wider team.
This role may include occasional evening and weekend work, particularly in the provision of after school groups.
Working hours are flexible, with opportunities outside of term-term, such as within our summer programme for those that would like additional hours.
Please note that one of the schools uses a therapy dog which stays in the office where the Link Worker would be based.
