As a Chemistry Lecturer, you will be responsible for:
- Delivering high-quality teaching and learning in chemistry across various levels and qualifications, such as A-levels, BTECs, and Access courses.
- Developing and updating course materials, assessments, and schemes of work in line with the curriculum and quality standards.
- Plan, prepare and deliver high quality teaching that meets the needs of international students whose first language is not English to achieve excellent student outcomes, student experience and progression.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback, formative and summative, to help manage students' performance.
- Report to relevant stakeholders on students as needed throughout the programme.
- Set and mark work and assessments in accordance with the college and Higher Education/University partner assessment and quality policies.
- Ensure English, Maths and transferable skills are embedded within lessons to support students preparing for progression to the partner institution.
What you will need:
- A relevant degree in chemistry or a related discipline, and preferably a postgraduate qualification or a teaching qualification.
- Experience of teaching chemistry in further education or a similar setting, with evidence of positive student outcomes and feedback.
- Knowledge of current developments and best practices in chemistry education and assessment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- A flexible and collaborative approach to work, and a willingness to take on new challenges and opportunities.
This will be based in the Portsmouth area, paying £25ph-30ph, 21 hours teaching, start immediately in January 2024.
