Science Teacher

Best In Class is working with a local Leeds school, based in LS9, to recruit for a Science Teacher who is qualified to teach the national curriculum for science as a whole. You will have experience teaching biology, chemistry, and physics to students across KS3 and KS4; supporting students throughout their GCSE’s and filling them with confidence in their own abilities to achieve the grades they are capable of. The successful candidate will be passionate about the subject of science, showcasing this through their teaching and providing students with opportunities for theory and practical based lessons. The school you will be working at is based in the Harehills area of Leeds with local transport links for those using public transport.

With a variety of resources and technology to support teaching, you will never be short of materials to support your teaching. As an experienced Science Teacher, you will demonstrate a strong understanding of scientific principles, theories and methodologies across multiple disciplines and effectively communicate complex concepts to students in detail. It is important within this role that you can identify student’s strengths and weaknesses in order to work on the topics that students need additional support with. As science is a core subject, you need to be able to manage expectations well of students and manage the classroom effectively so that students have an environment where they can continually make progress. Assessing students learning is a regular part of the role through formative and summative assessments, including fun things like quizzes and projects where students can get creative whilst solidifying their understanding of science. Due to having a large class of students, it is important that you can differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students, including those with varying academic backgrounds, learning styles and special education needs. You will adapt your teaching strategies and materials as necessary to ensure all students can access the curriculum and achieve success; its all about giving students every opportunity to succeed. Within this role you will contribute to the planning of programmes of study and schemes of work appropriate to the needs of all pupils.

The successful candidate must have:

• UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE or SCITT, with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Previous relevant experience
• An enhanced DBS that is registered to the update service
• Two suitable teaching references covering the past two years
• Right to work in the U.K
