Why You
Our Material Science Team within our Scientific Research function at Illumina Cambridge is responsible for activities related to innovation, introduction of new products and services, improvement of current products, or analysis of organic and inorganic substances and materials in accordance with established regulatory standards.
Activities may include developing new products and completing investigational testing for new products. Identifies safe and efficacious products by conducting preclinical testing, which evaluates aspects of pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, and toxicology in in-vitro and in-vivo settings.
The Role
This great opportunity would suit an individual who has some experience of working in a lab environment, through either an internship or research conducted at university.
This role will involve working in a small team conducting synthesis of materials in the lab and characterize them using various techniques, using your skills and knowledge from your studies and previous lab experience to execute.
Scope of responsibilities
- Designs and performs experiments of varying complexity and across a broad array of techniques, foresees issues and works to overcome obstacles to completing tasks or assignments, conceives of new ways to analyze the data and present it.
- Makes detailed technical observations and documents them in laboratory notebooks and confluence pages, etc.
- Plans, conducts, summarizes, reports consistent conclusions, and generates recommendations for follow up experiments and may suggest alternate strategies.
- Takes responsibility for training others, raising the consistency and quality of data collection of the team, establishes criteria and / or work procedures to achieve a high level of quality and productivity.
Qualifications, Experience & Attributes Required
- You will have gained a bachelor’s degree or a Masters degree and possess a university level understanding of the scientific principles and laboratory experience.
- Experience in industry an advantage.
- Possess excellent open verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, with excellent attention to detail.
Please note this role would not suit those with an advanced education or qualification such as PhD.
