Our company has a rapidly growing interdisciplinary team of scientists in London and exciting plans to expand our London presence, initially at the Francis Crick Institute as part of our ‘Skylab’ expansion in 2024, and from 2027 in our new ‘state of art’ London Discovery Research Centre and UK headquarters at the hub of London’s Knowledge Quarter. This will be home to approximately 180 scientists alongside other colleagues in clinical, regulatory and business roles, including marketing, finance and administration.
Our teams combine leading drug discovery capabilities and world-class R&D with the purpose of turning breakthrough science into life-changing medicines, applying leading-edge medicinal, synthetic, and computational chemistry to support target validation and identify high quality clinical candidates. The successful candidate will join a growing separations team to analyse and purify small molecules and alternative modalities prepared by our medicinal chemists.
Primary responsibilities include purification of Small Molecules from reaction mixtures by applying standard LC/MS technologies, troubleshooting and basic repairs of chromatographic instrumentation, method development of chiral compounds for both EE determination and scaled up purification. In addition, the candidate will share and apply the best Analytical and chromatography chemistry techniques to enable continuous improvement of the capabilities within the organization. This will involve driving the execution of preparative compound purification, to include in a high throughput automated environment.
To accomplish the above, the candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility and time management skills, and a keen initiative to support Medicinal Chemistry and Discovery Process project needs.
Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement:
- The candidate will possess a BS or MS in chemistry, biochemistry, or other physical science
Required Experience:
- Understanding of Analytical and Separation chemistry
- Hands-on experience utilizing HPLC, LCMS, and/or SFC instrumentation in an analytical/purification lab
- The ability to perform accurate and timely work, as attention to detail is an integral part of this role
- Highly self-motivated, collaborative-oriented focus and an attention to detail are critical to success in this position to support cross-functional teams across growing research programs
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Hands-on experience with setup and repair of Analytical and preparative HPLC instrumentation
- May have experience in high throughput automation and instrumentation applied to chemical compound purification
- Knowledge in HPLC and/or SFC purification of one or more of the following classes of chemicals compounds; Small Molecules, Peptides,
- Experience in development and analysis of chiral separations
- Ability to multi-task and deliver on multiple priorities simultaneously
- Knowledge of informatics and understanding of analytical software for data analysis
- Knowledge of operation of standard laboratory instrumentation (e.g. automated balances, liquid handlers, MS, automated chromatography
