The Wildheart Animal Sanctuary offers forever homes for exotic animal species in desperate need, often having been rescued from dire circumstances. As we move towards our summer season we are looking for a support to strengthen our established Animal Team and are currently looking to recruit a fixed term casual hours Animal Carer.
We are looking for someone to cover our teams days off and holiday during the busy summer season and therefore the animals sections you will work with will be diverse (from lemurs, monkeys, reptiles and wallabies to farm animals). It will also be a public facing role, so you will need to have fantastic people skills and enjoy answering enquiries and talking about the animals in our charge. Previous animal experience is preferred.
Animal carers are responsible for maintaining high standards of husbandry and care for the animals assigned to them. They are expected to follow set husbandry standards and be involved in all aspects of care for the animals including enrichment, training, weighing of the animals along with their normal welfare duties.
