Join our vital Secondary Steel team, where we play a crucial role in supporting the Basic Oxygen Plant and refining steel for top-tier manufacturing. Our dynamic scope of work encompasses advanced Thyristor drives, robust protection systems, transformers and state-of-the-art low voltage supply equipment and PLCs. As a key member of the Secondary Steel Team you'll collaborate with skilled British Steel craftspeople and contractors, to ensure our equipment is maintained to the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
What You’ll Do:
- Frontline Excellence: Reporting to the Secondary Steel Team Leader, you’ll provide critical support to achieve plant operational targets, ensure top-notch product quality, deliver exceptional customer service and uphold stringent health and safety standards.
- Maintenance Mastery: Not only will you maintain but also elevate engineering standards, striving for excellence in every task.
- Team Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with British Steel experts and contractor teams to drive seamless and safe operations.
What we need to know about you
To be considered for this position you must be qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in a relevant electrical trade or have served a recognised apprenticeship*.
Ideally you will have experience of electrical maintenance and fault finding within a commercial or heavy engineering environment, essential to the role is the ability to adapt to new equipment. You must be flexible, have a desire to learn and develop.
Knowledge of steelmaking would be beneficial but is not essential, as extensive training will be provided.
*Certificate evidence will be required
