We are recruiting Learning Mentors to work full time ASAP in an SEMH school in Plymouth. The pupils are referred from the Local Authority or direct from Plymouth Schools, excluded or at risk of exclusion, so all display challenging behaviours. They have a high level of support with a 1:1 Learning Mentor, aiming for them to return to education with better personal skills and strategies to support them.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting students on a full time basis 08:30 - 15:30 5 days a week.
- Supporting 1:1 engaging the students in their work by going through worksheets in their main subjects of; MATHS, ENGLISH, SCIENCE & ART.
- Supporting students on Outdoor Learning which is around 50% of the school curriculum (aquariums, swimming pools, forests, beaches, parks etc.)
Pay will be between £80 - £90 per day depending on experience. These roles are full time and there are contracted opportunities within the school.
Driving licence and access to a car is a must as you will be able to claim 45p per mile taking students on outdoor learning.
You will be given a full training programme with support in MAPA de-escalation and LOTC (learning outside of the classroom) training alongside health and safety and first aid.
