Job Description: SEMH Learning Support Assistant Location: South East England, East Sussex, Hailsham Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Primary Industry: Education and Training Salary: £400 - £420 Per week Qualifications: GCSE in Maths and English Skills: Behaviour Management Promoting self-esteem and confidence in young people Classroom support Special needs support Job Duties: In this role as a SEMH Learning Support Assistant, your main responsibilities will include: Providing classroom support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. Assisting in the implementation of behaviour management strategies to create a positive learning environment. Promoting the self-esteem and confidence of young people by providing individualised support and encouragement. Working closely with the teaching staff to deliver tailored interventions and support plans. Supporting students with special educational needs, adapting materials and resources as necessary. Monitoring and recording student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers. Assisting with the preparation and organisation of classroom activities and resources. Required Qualifications: To be considered for this role, you must have: GCSE qualifications in Maths and English. Experience: Prior experience working with students with SEMH difficulties or in a similar educational setting would be advantageous. Knowledge and Skills: As a SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you should possess the following knowledge and skills: Strong behaviour management skills to effectively manage challenging behaviours. Ability to promote self-esteem and confidence in young people through positive reinforcement. Experience providing classroom support to students. Knowledge of special needs support strategies and techniques. Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following qualifications would be desirable: Higher level qualifications in education or related fields. Additional training or certifications in behaviour management or special needs education. Working Conditions: You will be working in an educational setting, supporting students with SEMH difficulties. The role is expected to be Full-Time and permanent, with standard working hours. You will collaborate closely with teaching staff and may occasionally interact with parents/carers. The role may require some flexibility in terms of adapting to the needs of the students and the school. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
