Job Introduction

SEND Case Officer Temporary Maternity Cover (Part Time x 2 positions) 

 

22.5 hours 

25 hours 

   

We are looking to recruit two Case Officers to join our SEND Service for up to 1 year. The work is varied with good communications skills critical to coordinating the assessment and ongoing review of children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans.  

 

The team has a base at BCP Civic Centre in Bournemouth, but staff can divide their time between working from home and in the office. You will be expected to visit and link closely with schools and education providers.  

 

A good understanding of SEND including the associated legislation is essential.   

 

This role is both a rewarding and challenging position. With regular supervision and a focus on developing the skills of our Case Officers, we strive to ensure the best for children within BCP.

Main Responsibilities

Focusing on children and young people’s outcomes, and enabling children and families in BCP, this post involves the management of Special Educational Needs and Disability’ (SEND) casework and the effective administration of the procedures relating to the statutory assessment of children with special educational needs and disabilities

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience of dealing with sensitive and confidential information and in managing/resolving conflicts.
  • Experience of working across professions and agencies to meet high standards of service delivery, meeting deadlines and using resources effectively.
  • Experience of successfully building good working relationships with children, young people and families in a professional context in a variety of settings. 
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience relevant to this role.
  • Significant understanding of the legal context and statutory framework of the assessment processes relating to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.  
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation and statutory guidance relating to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
