Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of children, particularly those with autism and special education requirements. This is a paid position that offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and their families.
Duties:
- Assist the practitioners in implementing educational programs and activities
- Provide one-on-one support to students with autism or special education needs
- Help create a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Support students' social and emotional development
- Collaborate with the SENCO to develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Assist with nursery room management and behaviour management strategies
- Provide assistance with daily tasks, such as personal care and hygiene, if needed
- Monitor student progress and document observations
- Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and other staff members
Skills:
To excel in this role, you should have the following skills:
- Experience working with children, preferably in a special education or autism-focused setting
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with children
- Knowledge of toddler care and early childhood education principles
- Ability to follow instructions from the lead teacher and adapt to changing situations
