Senior Accounts Assistant

Reed Accountancy is excited to be working exclusively with a new client of ours who are a rapidly growing Edinburgh based accountancy practice, they are currently seeking a Senior Accounts Assistant to join their busy team on a full-time permanent basis.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Prepare monthly or quarterly management accounts for a specified portfolio of clients.
• Review systems and processes to ensure client work is delivered effectively.
• Prepare, review, and submit VAT Returns.
• Support the transactional data entry process, whether carried out by client teams or colleagues.
• Prepare working papers, ensuring balance sheet control accounts are reconciled and documented.
• Prepare journal entries at period ends to ensure management accounts are meaningful.
• Liaise with external accountants for the production of financial statements and tax returns.
• Engage in new business activities, including meetings with prospective and existing clients.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong commitment to excellent customer service and the ability to meet clear goals within deadlines.
• Skilled in preparing financial reports such as profit and loss, balance sheets, budgets, variance reporting, cashflow reporting, and forecasting.
• Clear understanding of the purpose of various financial reports and the ability to communicate this to clients.
• Up-to-date knowledge of the regulatory environment and compliance.
• Enthusiasm to get the job done in a small but growing team, including transactional data entry and support for team members.

Desirable: * Knowledge of Xero and related apps (e.g., Dext Prepare, Fathom, Float, Approval Max, Pleo). * Working knowledge of payroll issues.
