HomeServe are currently recruiting for a Senior Business Analyst to join the Technology & Change Team in Walsall. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Agile methodology and have experience working within a business transforming into an Agile world.
We work in a hybrid way, mostly remote with a requirement to travel into our Walsall office at least twice a month to work with the team. With that in mind you will be located within a convenient commute to Walsall.
As a Senior Business Analyst you provide a pivotal role between the business and technology functions. This role will work with the Business & Technology Teams to understand the businesses goals, and conduct in depth analysis. This role will act on behalf of the business to define and order the backlog of potential change (as a proxy Product Owner).
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Direction & Strategy - Working closely with the business areas to define Business and Technical vision / strategy to produce capability roadmaps. Work alongside Systems Architecture and key business stakeholders to explore and define new initiatives.
- Business and Technology Awareness - Being aware of the current business strategy. Working alongside business and technical stakeholders to identify where the greatest value will be gained (benefits analysis) within HomeServe.
- Requirements Definition and Management - proficient in using proven techniques to elicit information from stakeholders such as; facilitated workshops, interviewing, observation and prototyping .
- The Senior BA will identify and document the needs of the business from initial objectives, to feasibility, high level requirements and detailed requirements as the project progresses. They will analyse the requirements, facilitating the prioritisation, refinement and decomposition to support design, build and testing activities. The Senior BA will review and determine the approach to Requirements Engineering for the BA community, ensuring appropriate tools are made available to the community and their output meets the expected level of quality. The Senior BA must be able to utilise their skills in Agile software development environments being able to facilitate various Agile processes such as Iteration / Release Planning, Backlog Refinement, Story Writing, Retrospective, Sprint Review, Daily Stand-up. Acting where appropriate as a proxy Product Owner on behalf of the business to prioritise the backlog and maximise business value.
- Analysis and Modelling - conducting analysis to understand the current Business Situation and process and record using appropriate models and tools. Supporting stakeholders in visioning and remodelling to demonstrate the intended new capabilities and enhancements. Uncovering and advising on areas of improvement. Defines modelling standards for the BA community and actively promoting quality output.
- Communication - able to identify and effectively manage all affected stakeholders. The Business Analyst must be articulate and professional in communicating with people at all levels of the organisation and external parties.
- Take Ownership - willingly supports the team in executing and governing activities, such as Data Protection Risk Assessments, RAIDC, Risk Assessments, solution transitions, business adoption and support user acceptance testing. The Senior BA will be a critical part of the wider analyst community; mentoring, peer reviewing and sharing best practice.
- Accountability - expected to take full responsibility for the advice and recommendations provided to the business and the Senior Management Team. Draw from past experience and demonstrate how the use of proven BA Tools and Techniques have been utilised to assess challenges/opportunities, define potential options, evaluate strategy fit of those options and verify feasibility. Expected to take a definitive role and make a tangible contribution to new and inflight initiatives. Capable of presenting and clearly justifying your proposals or recommendations to Senior Leaders who may have differing opinions, operational backgrounds and responsibilities, in order to secure buy-in, consensus or funding. Demonstrate your understanding of how the initiatives you champion or contribute to impact the Business as a whole.
- Change Implementation - Ensure that any new technical capabilities to be introduced to the Business will include the Business Perspective. Be prepared to challenge when initiatives or even in-flight deliveries do not meet the business need or the agreed objective. Supports projects to effectively prepare the receiving Business areas for the change and support the activities to embed the change and realise the benefits.
- Organisational Design and Implementation - conducts Business Impact Assessments to understand how a proposed initiative will affect the Business as a whole. Ability to help other Key Stakeholders visualise the impact and where necessary calculate any associated Costs or Benefits.
- Line Management - Line management of Junior Business Analysts. Supporting personal growth and learning.
