Jackson Hogg Procurement division are partnering with a design and manufacturing organisation in South Tyneside on the appointment of a Senior Buyer to join their small, close-knit team on a full-time and permanent basis.
The role can offer £(phone number removed) per annum DOE, 25 days holiday plus bank hols, free parking, adhoc home working and a 2pm Friday finish.
Reporting into the Head of Purchasing, the Senior Buyer will work across both direct and indirect spend to procure materials and equipment whilst ensuring that KPIs on quality, cost and delivery are met. Project-based procurement experience would be advantageous as well as the ability to read engineering drawings.
Senior Buyer - The Role:
- Negotiate the purchase of materials, equipment and services required by the company, ensuring that these meet specifications and can be delivered at the correct time and most favourable price.
- Participate in Internal or External Audits.
- Identify, implement and track cost savings to meet annual target for each project.
- Present to a team of internal and external Stakeholders
- Action daily MRP messages to reflect latest schedule demand, whilst also ensuring that the system is maintained to reflect current pricing, MOQ & L/T’s.
- Preparation of Bids to meet the requirement of the Commercial Team.
- Ensure that ASL (Approved Supplier Listing) is maintained, where necessary identify potential new sources of supply ensuing.
- Monitor and maintain supplier relationships and performance, where necessary agree improvement action plans, monitor improvement, if required develop resource plans.
- Process approved requisitions for non-inventory items submitted via internal requisition process.
Person Specification:
- Experience in a direct purchasing role
- Experience of procuring components, and Sub Assembly’s for complex engineering / manufacturing projects would be desirable
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Demonstrable cost saving initiatives and negotiation skills
- Confident presenter
- Strong communication skills
