Join our major rail client as a Senior Buyer, where you will play a pivotal role in overseeing delivery teams and optimizing the supply chain. Your key responsibilities will include efficiently managing materials, plant, and service provisions, taking the lead in subcontract order placement, and ensuring effective communication internally, with external suppliers, and other stakeholders as guided by the Procurement Manager and Alliance Management Team. Experience
- Previous Administration experience in rail preferable
- Experience with rosters and timesheets
- Experience in a fast-paced environment
- Good organisation skills
Key Accountabilities and objectives
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance supply chain efficiency by carefully selecting, managing, and developing relationships with suppliers, and ensuring robust performance management.
- Establish and maintain an effective supply chain structure for the designated area, taking ownership of key subcontractor relationships.
- Implement the Supply Chain Strategy in alignment with Midland Metro Alliance Success Factors.
- Contribute to subcontractor selection and project tender list development; lead supply chain involvement as necessary.
- Support or lead subcontract procurement, developing package procurement strategies when needed.
- Prepare tender inquiries, ensuring adherence to project Procurement Schedules and timelines.
Experience:
- Minimum of three years' experience in the Construction/Civil Engineering sector at a senior level in a large multi-business unit or project environment.
- Attention to detail regarding contractual obligations and order placement.
- Knowledge of best practice supply chain management tools.
- Demonstrable commercial awareness with budget control and monitoring abilities.
- Effective communication skills for engaging with external and internal stakeholders.
Desirable:
- Full UK driving licence for potential site travel.
