Form of workRole Overview: As a Senior Civil Structural Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and delivery of substation projects. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of designs. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality and efficient solutions that meet industry standards and client expectations.
There are multiple positions available across the Midlands. All roles offer hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the civil and structural design aspects of substation projects from concept to completion.
- Develop detailed design calculations, drawings, and specifications for substation structures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Occasionally conduct site visits and assessments to gather essential data for design purposes.
- Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and the wider team to ensure cohesive project delivery.
- Review and approve design documents, including drawings and specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and design teams.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng)
- Extensive experience in civil and structural design within the power and energy sector, with a specific focus on substation projects.
- Proven experience working on National Grid and/or SSE projects is highly preferable.
- National Grid CDAE Nomination is preferable
- Extensive knowledge of relevant design codes, standards, and practices.
