Job description

Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Peak District National Trust team as the Senior Visitor Experience Marketing and Communications Officer. Caring for places for everyone, for ever is the core of what we do.

You'll play a key role in promoting our special places and encouraging support for the National Trust, reaching new audiences and attracting visitors to the places we care for.

What it's like to work here

You'll be based across three hubs; Illam in the White Peak, Longshaw Estate and Edale in the High Peak. You'll be required to rotate around each site, with at least 4 days in an office or out on site for content creation.

The National Trust team at the Peak District are passionate about the work we do for both people and planet. We want to share our story with the visitors who come to the Peak District from far and wide. This means each day your role will vary from promoting a programme of events for a diverse range of visitors, to advocating for positive visitor outdoor behaviour. You’ll join a creative, supportive and high-achieving marketing and communications property team who consistently attract national press and have grown a significant organic following on multiple social media platforms.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be responsible for coordinating an effective communication and marketing plan for visitor experience and commercial activity, which helps fund our land & nature plans. You'll work alongside the other Senior Marketing & Communications Officer, whose focus is on our land and nature conservation work. Together you'll deliver a marketing and communications strategy. Working closely with the property leadership, visitor experience and consultancy teams, you'll help promote our special places and activities to encourage support, through visits, donations, volunteering and commercial activity.

You’ll help to generate positive press coverage and content to raise the profile of the places we care for, attract visitors to enjoy them and reach a variety of audiences. This will be through different formats; social, in print or on-site signage.

Building upon past successes, you’ll help to manage the property’s social media accounts, including creating new engaging content and looking for opportunities to reach new audiences. Managing effective marketing and PR campaigns for the property’s event programme across social media and other channels will be pivotal to help deliver the business plan and fund our conservation work.

Who we're looking for

To deliver this role successfully, you'll need:

  • practical experience in a marketing and communications role across various disciplines
  • experience of developing marketing and communication plans
  • a good eye for presentation with a good understanding of brand management
  • a proven track record in creating, using and editing content across different channels based on audience insight and evaluation
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attentional to detail to ensure the accuracy of information shared
  • well organised and able to manage multiple priorities and varying pressures to meet targets and deadlines
  • understanding of relevant legislation; marketing codes and regulations, data protection, accessibility standards, copyright and model release
  • understanding of how to handle a press enquiry and contentious issues. You’ll have the ability to spot a potential story, potential risks to reputation and escalate them accordingly
