Senior Communications Officer

Public Law Project (PLP) is looking for a communications professional who wants to promote human rights, access to justice, and the right for citizens to hold the state to account.
With an election on the horizon, this is an exciting time to be at PLP. We are focused on advocating for fairer immigration and welfare systems, a constitution that promotes accountability, and for rules to prevent Government misuse of technology and AI. Will you join us as our next Senior Communications Officer?
Working within the Communications and External Affairs team, you will take a lead on securing media coverage for our legal casework and ensuring that our research and advocacy work gains traction and profile with the right audiences.
You will already have a few years’ experience of working in a similar role (or equivalent) and have a good eye for a story and clear instincts about audience, channels, and purpose. You will have a track record of successfully placing stories in the media, including: pitching stories, writing press releases, and placing op eds. The successful candidate will be able to distil complex legal and policy issues into compelling and accurate copy for a range of channels and audiences.
Reporting to the Director of Communications and External Affairs, you will be great at working across teams and building collaborative, professional relationships with people from different disciplines, including academic researchers, lawyers, and our events team.
