NPC is the think tank and consultancy for the UK charity sector. We work to increase the positive impact of the sector, to improve people’s lives, make communities stronger and the planet healthier. We help organisations improve what they do, we influence policy and sector behaviour, and we support innovation in the sector. By working across charities, funders and government, we have a unique perspective and influence, while our consultancy department works with some of the leading organisations advancing great practice. Our work is highly regarded in the sector, and we work with a range of clients including philanthropists, grant-making trusts and foundations, corporates and charities. Our recent Effective Philanthropy clients have ranged from large and established charitable foundations, to individuals and families, and some corporate clients.
This role:
We are looking for someone who is interested in helping philanthropists and funders maximise the impact of their giving. As a Senior Consultant you’ll work on consultancy work with a variety of clients, as well as contributing to NPC’s wider thinking and influencing work. Our consultancy work involves working with organisations to examine what they want to achieve, the best routes to get there and how best to evaluate and learn. NPC works across the UK voluntary sector, so you will get to work on a wide variety of topic areas and organisations, on both large and small projects.
The attributes we are looking for include:
- A keen interest in how philanthropists and charities can continually improve their impact Relevant or applicable experience in consulting, grant-making and philanthropy or the charity sector.
- Research and analysis skills such as interviewing, due diligence and desk research
- Ability to influence clients and lead relationships
- Ability to write well in clear, plain English
- A track record of project managing research or consultancy projects

We are based in London and offer hybrid contracts (we expect staff to be in the office at least one day per week). We are open to applicants who wish to work on a part-time basis, at least 30 hours per week.
Salary: £36,000 – £44,000 per annum, pro rata, dependent on experience. We also offer a range of competitive benefits including 25 days holiday pro-rata (not including bank holidays), paid study and voluntary leave, and enhanced maternity, paternity and adoptive benefits.
