Job Title:Senior Cyber Security Engineer

Location: Preston – (Hybrid Model) – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to 60,000 – Depending on experience and skills

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with and configuring Microsoft Sentinel from an Engineering build, including maintenance, upgrade & exploitation perspective
  • Strong demonstrable skills using Microsoft KQL language
  • Leading, including line management of a new team to help safeguard BAE Systems UK enterprise IT infrastructure against cyber threats through the configuration, installation and maintenance of Cyber Security Technical Control Software solutions and compensating controls
  • To proactively install, manage and update hardware & Cyber Security toolsets as required for the role
  • Continuously work towards organisational, departmental, and individual objectives and uphold security standards and principles
  • Supporting SIEM and SOAR technologies
  • Provide ongoing management and administration of Cyber Security solutions
  • Provide support to projects delivering and implementation of Cyber Security solutions
  • Provide guidance and support to team members where required
  • Provide periodic reporting on the metrics associated with security solutions

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Strong, demonstrable ability to use KQL combined with the ability to create custom KQL scripts that are used to conduct sophisticated security data analysis and uplift incident response and threat detection capabilities within a SIEM
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work autonomously to complete a range of tasks to time and quality with the minimum of supervision
  • Understanding of how to connect multiple log sources to Microsoft Sentinel, including the ability to parse any log feeds to provide appropriate usage. This includes log management, log source integration and connector development skills to support ingests without off the shelf support
  • Capable of building and supporting a Sentinel SIEM platform from a Cyber–Engineering perspective
  • Possessing an open and communicative style that engenders trust and promotes good working relationships

  • Cyber Security Technical Control Software solutions
  • SIEM Toolsets / Protective Monitoring
  • Security monitoring and reporting

The Cyber Engineering team:

You will be joining an expansion to an existing cyber engineering team, supporting additional requirements that sits within Enterprise IT, providing enterprise IT services across the UK businesses and internationally. You will participate in the creation of security solutions to provide enterprise security services, and maintain, develop, and communicate their associated roadmaps and standards through the full lifecycle of the service. This could also offer a natural progression route and the opportunity to develop further.
