Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Plant Manager you will be responsible for:
- The day-to-day management of the full operations team to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the station.
- Ensuring the power station always operates and complies within environmental regulations.
- Liaising with the Maintenance/Engineering Manager and other relevant personnel regarding projects, maintenance, outages, costing and programming of plant improvements
- The day-to-day monitoring of plant efficiency and directing the operations staff to optimise the power station accordingly.
- Preparing the annual budget for the Operations department for review and work within this budget - including fuel supply, consumables, etc
- Carry out annual performance reviews with operations staff
- Liaise with regulatory bodies such as the HSE, SEPA, FEMAS, etc
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Ideally an HNC, or above, in a relevant engineering discipline
- An IOSH or NEBOSH qualification will be advantageous.
Personal skills, prior experience, and knowledge
The Operations Manager role would suit someone who has:
- Prior experience in the power generation sector such as Biomass, CHP, Energy from Waste, Coal, CCGT, etc
- Knowledge of environmental permits, H&S issues, and safe working environments
- Extensive experience with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) procedures

- A basic salary of up to £67,000
- Relocation assistance can be offered on a case-by-case basis
- Excellent pension scheme of 13% (EE is 3% minimum with ER being 10%)
