What will the post holder be doing?
As a data driven organisation, this role is a critical part of our Data Services team who work to ensure that teams across the business have access to the data, systems and tools that we rely on each and every day.
We are seeking someone with experience of developing, maintaining and continuously improving business critical data systems. Crucially, the successful applicant will have proven skills with cloud technologies, ETL, Data Lake, Database Management Systems and T-SQL. They will work well as part of an agile Scrum team and be able to hit the ground running.
We are looking for a creative, focussed individual, experienced in and passionate about data, data analytics and data management systems. As a Data Engineer, you will design and implement the systems that enable the collection, storage and flow of data into and around Ofqual and its partners.
Using cutting edge cloud technologies, you will contribute to the design, development and ongoing improvement of our data management systems, ensuring data is stored and processed effectively, and most importantly that it meets the businesses dynamic and continually developing intelligence and operating requirements.
In order to be successful as a Data Engineer at Ofqual, you will need to be as comfortable with People as you are with Technology and Data. You need to be a good team player both within the Digital, Data and Technology team and the teams across Ofqual. You will have excellent analytical skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure and have the capability to meet tight deadlines when required.
Duties and responsibilities to include, but is not limited to:
• Manage the development of Data Engineering solutions which are key enablers of regulation and Ofqual’s strategic goals
• Participate in full lifecycle implementation from specification and design requirements analysis, architecture design to application design, development, testing and deployment
• Manage the development and support of Ofquals data systems including data collections, data movement solution, data warehouse and associated internal reports.
• Operate the production services you build and have an understanding of the whole system, including finding ways to improve system robustness, resilience and stability
• Ensure that technical decisions support our standards and quality, goals of performance and reliability, scalability and availability and security and data protection
