Job description

Some careers shine brighter than others.

If you’re looking for a career where you will be respected as an individual and valued for the contributions you make, join HSBC and discover how diversity drives our success. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

The Data and Analytics Office was established to transform HSBC into a truly data-driven organisation by ensuring that every design decision has a built-in data consideration. We provide leadership that enables data and analytics to be a key driver of our business strategy. And we work closely in partnership with senior stakeholders and delivery teams all over the world to connect the business processes, data, products, services, and technology that underpin customer value and financial success.

HSBC Data & Analytics Office (DAO) promotes a data-driven culture across HSBC through our strategy of:

•    Protect: To protect our data we need robust policies for data management and enhanced governance e.g. data that is consumed from a trusted source, meets quality standards, and complies with regulatory obligations.
•    Connect: Move to a data-led culture through enhanced training including on the job opportunities. Our talent is the glue between protecting our data and unlocking value for our customers.
•    Unlock. Value is unlocked when we deliver on the opportunities our well-managed data presents e.g. improving customer / colleague experience, increasing revenue, commercialising our data, optimising capital, enhancing risk management or reducing costs.

The Senior Data Manager role will primarily support the Protect pillar of the strategy. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a truly global environment

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you will:

  • Act as the catalyst and custodian to uplift how the Ring Fence Bank uses Data across the key Processes and Product

  • Interacting with senior stakeholders to lead the implementation of the Data Strategy, ensuring we meet our customer and regulator obligations.

  • Build positive business relationships and embed ownership of data with the in-country business and data communities.

  • Report on progress and blockers and ensure changes and progress are recorded through governance.

  • Engage with the global and other regional teams to ensure learnings shared and facilitate the development of the team locally and globally

Request

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

•    Extensive understanding of data management and governance including Governance drafting experience.
•    Project management knowledge and the ability to set plans and deliver to timescales.
•    Risk and Issue Management experience preferred.
•    Team leadership experience setting team performance expectations and monitoring progress.

This role is based in Birmingham or Sheffield.
