About the Role

As our new Senior Data Privacy Analyst, you will ensure the continued compliance of OUP’s Privacy Information Management System in accordance with UK and International Data Law.  You will document and maintain records of all privacy-related processes and decisions for accountability and audit purposes and conduct privacy risk assessments for new projects, initiatives and data processing activities

Other duties will include:

  • Assist in the implementation of Data Protection (DP) initiatives within Oxford University Press
  • Support in the timely and efficient execution of data protection initiatives
  • Support the Data Privacy Lead in maintaining a network of data protection coordinators to ensure change initiatives and related awareness are appropriately communicated across Oxford University Press
  • Ensure that data protection policies, standards and guidelines are operating effectively across the organisation and update periodically or when necessary
  • Support Data Privacy Lead in completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA)
  • Collaborate with various teams/data protection coordinators to identify any remedial actions required and ensure these actions are complete.
  • Work with the Data Protection point of contact in relevant business functions to capture records of processing activities
  • Assist in the investigation and management of privacy incidents and escalate potential data breaches to the Data Privacy Lead or Data Protection Officer as appropriate.
  • Ensure key stakeholders across Oxford University Press, are aware of the DP needs
  • Contribute to the delivery of DP awareness communications and a mandatory online DP training
  • Escalate potential DP issues and risks in respect to the processing of personal data to the Data Privacy Lead and DPO
  • Collaborate with ISDP team on supplier privacy assurance activities by gathering and analysing information for supplier assessments
  • Coordinate with Data Privacy Lead and DPO on Subject Access Requests (SAR), other data subject rights request, and Freedom of Information Requests (FOI), including information gathering and information redaction where required
  • Draft letters of response to data subjects who have made a data rights requests
  • As necessary, contribute and / or manage other data protection related change activities and reporting requirements as suggested by the Data Privacy Lead
  • Assist in the roll out and implementation of privacy management software

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office. 

About You

Essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of Data Privacy laws, regulations and standards globally with a strong emphasis on the UK and Europe
  • Knowledge of business process documentation, developing data protection compliance policies and defining best practice
  • Ability to work with a range of business stakeholders to understand and articulate their activities in line with defined standards
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Demonstrable experience implementing data security requirements in a complex enterprise technology environment

Desirable:

  • Experience working with process analysis and documentation in a privacy programme or project environment
  • Experience of establishing an effective Data Privacy programme in a complex geographical / functional matrix organization
  • Demonstrable experience of investigating data breaches and advising the business on privacy improvement and impact mitigation
  • Professional Data Privacy certifications (e.g. CIPP/E)
