Job Description
This role is responsible for providing data management and scientific computing capabilities to support multiple projects while also being responsible for understanding and managing the broad data landscape within the organisation and acting as the point of contact for all aspects of data management and sharing. It will be the responsibility that the data sets are appropriately captured annotated and shared within the data platform payment you will need to be creative and show innovation in your ideas for new capture sharing and visualisation approaches as well as integrating with existing data management solutions in the organisation and external collaborators.
Identify, define and plan new projects which contribute to the overall aims of the research ensuring datasets are appropriately annotated and made available in a manner which is FAIR compliant. Requirements;
An MSc in Bioinformatics, Biochemistry or another related computational subject with significant experience in managing large and diverse data types within a biomedical space.
Significant proficiency in coding in either Python or R and other scripting languages.
Experience of working with relational databases including the development of spoke schemas and writing effective SQL.
Evidence of ability to take a leadership role and drive project completion, working independently and organising and prioritising work to deliver accurate results combined with the ability to supervise and train junior team members.
The successful candidate will be able to help researchers to interactively explore the molecular pathology of disease without needing to be computational biology experts themselves.
Fixed term contract to 31st August 2026
MUST be onsite in Oxford 3 days a week minimum
