Job summary

You will be responsible for the delivery of one of the Planning Inspectorate’s three core services. Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team and the Service Manager to plan and deliver established user needs.

Job description

Join our dynamic team if you're an Agile Expert! We're seeking individuals who excel in driving iterative, user-centric product/service delivery through agile practices. Lead the way in our workshops, ensuring every voice is heard and actionable outputs are achieved. Be the backbone of our high-performing, strategic multidisciplinary teams, proactively tackling obstacles, mitigating risks, and escalating when needed.

Here's what your typical day/week will look like as an integral part of our team:

You'll lead and inspire multiple multidisciplinary teams, guiding them in organizing and planning their work to ensure the timely delivery of products and services that truly meet users' needs. Collaboratively create and take ownership of plans and progress using recognized lean/agile practices, effectively communicating status updates to senior stakeholders and users. Provide valuable and precise delivery metrics to drive continual improvement. Foster an inclusive team environment where innovation and constructive challenge are embraced from all colleagues.

Your role will involve delivering on agreed goals, proactively addressing impediments, risks, and blockers, while communicating and escalating when necessary. Continually enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and cohesion of teams. Collaborate closely with senior leaders, stakeholders, contractors, and other government agencies to ensure comprehensive understanding of all needs and influence strategic direction.

Manage stakeholders adeptly to ensure strategic alignment and effective communication, considering organizational context and diverse needs and priorities, and constructively managing conflicting views. Work hand-in-hand with product and technical leads on high-profile projects within ambiguous, complex, and uncertain domains.

Your commitment to promoting continual improvement, fostering good communication, and encouraging collaboration across the organisation using agile principles at scale will be paramount.

Office Attendance

All of our office-based roles are contractually located at Temple Quay House in Bristol. We encourage office attendance to foster collaboration, conversation, group creativity and employee wellbeing. You will be expected to attend Temple Quay House at least 12 times a year. Depending on your role, you may be required to attend more often than 12 times a year either permanently or temporarily to ensure we deliver our services in the most efficient and effective way for our customers. Person specification

Essential Criteria

  • Possesses significant knowledge of development design principles.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the full Software Delivery Lifecycle.
  • Strong digital project management skills in agile and/or Waterfall
  • Strong digital background
  • Experience of project management and achieving deadlines
  • Experience of utilising development methodologies such as Agile, RUP.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical and complex matters.
  • Relevant professional qualification at practitioner level (e.g. BCS Practitioner Certificate in Agile, BCS Certificate in IS Project Management, IPMA Level B Certified Project Manager) or willingness to study for a qualification within a reasonable length of time
