SENIOR GARMENT DESIGNER . Great opportunity to join a well established business within the Garment sourcing , design , manufacturing and distribution arena. You will have multi product experience across ladies and menswear, Process driven, fabric technical knowledge would be highly desirable . You must be able to use Illustrator and Photoshop daily with good IT skills across Word , Excel and PowerPoint.
In conjunction with the Group Design & Technical Manager, drive the strategic agenda and manage all design requirements for the business and its clients using internal and external resources and presenting creative ways to present client image and brand reflecting up to date trends. To ensure that the brand builds on its reputation as a design-led company.
Responsibility for outputs on all assigned design projects including designs, presentation packs, design samples and design presentations.
In conjunction with the Group Design & Technical Manager, ensure that the design departments strategic objectives directly contribute to the overall company objectives.
To ensure all fashion and fabric trends are understood and communicated.
To manage the design team’s resources to deliver new design initiatives and ranges in line with critical path dates.
To work with technical team creating innovation in fabrics, cost reduction engineering, technology, fit and constructional improvements.
To work with the wider supply chain to identify and create enhancements in the design function.
To generate design specifications in an efficient and effective manner whilst achieving right first-time disciplines in information transference and to a level a sufficient technical detail.
To control the customer brand colour in the development process to ensure the lab dips are reviewed/ approved.
To generate the costing board for the product/ range to provide the accurate information for the costing purpose.
To support the account management with focus groups and design related tasks in conjunction with client’s requirements and business operational parameter.
To create speculative design initiatives to expand within and outside our current client base.
Hybrid working TBC , but candidate must be able to commute to Birmingham at least 3 days a week .
- A minimum 5 years’ experience within a similar designer position
- Knowledge of Critical Path and PLM systems.
- Pattern knowledge ideal.
- Factory process knowledge essential.
- Garment technical knowledge essential.
- Fabric technical knowledge ideal.
- Excellent communication skills including customer presentations.
- People management and collaboration
- Ability to manage own workload and be a team player.
- Excellent level of IT knowledge especially Excel, Word, Illustrator & photoshop.
