As a Senior DevOps Engineer working as part of our Technology Enablement team you’ll be working to empower our engineering teams to automate their application delivery using modern continuous delivery / containerisation technologies such as GitHub Actions and Kubernetes.
You will drive a wide range of initiatives to modernise our development eco-system including supporting deployment of new applications into our Kubernetes platform, migrating legacy workloads, consolidating legacy source control repositories, supporting creation of templated CI pipelines and implementation of security tooling into our pipelines.

This role is available on a hybrid basis, 2 days home, 3 days in office at either our Shirebrook HQ (Nottinghamshire), or Manchester office; you must have the right to work in the UK..
Your primary responsibilities as a Senior DevOps Engineer will be:
- Work with our engineering teams to gather and translate requirements into deliverable solutions for areas like CI/CD, IaC, SRE and DevSecOps
- Containerise applications and support deployment to our Kubernetes platform
- Implement CI/CD processes for releasing software across different environments on-premise and cloud
- Maintain a focus on security. Identify, analyse, and remedy infrastructure vulnerabilities
- Review and improve our end-to-end DevOps stack; Automating and simplifying components using modern technologies
- Apply your knowledge of public/private cloud solutions to solve business problems
- Coach / mentor engineering teams in the correct application of DevOps principles and encourage the flow of creative ideas in how products and product architecture can best make use of cloud services
- Drive technical decisions by staying up to date with the latest technology and industry trends. You should be continuously looking for ways to apply them for our benefit
- Maintain strong relationships with our Data Center, Network and Security teams
- Troubleshoot complex environments with curiosity and creativity. Learn from your findings and implement solutions to prevent issues from reoccurring
- Participate in an out of hours on-call rotation responding to critical business alerts and ensuring actions are followed up to reduce future incidents
Key Skills:
- 3+ years developing and managing modern DevOps environments
- GCP or Microsoft certified engineer with some exposure in a second cloud platform
- Strong knowledge of build/deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
- Experience of working with Docker / Kubernetes, both for CI/CD, and orchestration with GKE, Anthos, AKS or OpenShift
- Exposure to GitOps methodologies and tools e.g. ArgoCD, Flux etc
- Experience using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) to deliver containerised, serverless, and virtualised infrastructure
- Comfortable with at least one programming/scripting language such as C#, PowerShell, Python, Go or Bash
- Personable, approachable, and keen to drive our adoption of newer technologies and techniques
- Ability to clearly articulate a solution conforming to agreed standards, potentially challenging proposed solutions where appropriate
Desirable Skills:
- High level understanding of networking fundamentals covering Load balancers, DNS, virtual networks, and firewalls
- Monitoring / Observability, Logging, and Alerting platforms such as Logic Monitor, Honeycomb and PagerDuty
- Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering
