We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Senior Employee Relations Manager / Investigator

The role of the Senior Employee Relations Manager partners with the HR colleagues, people managers and legal, supporting the full range of ER activity to help navigate complex people issues. The role spans the whole of the UK (i.e. RFB and NRFB) and across all businesses, functions and entities.

Human Resources leads the implementation of the Group’s people strategy in line with business objectives. In this role you will:

•    Supporting and managing the most complex people issues in a manner consistent with HSBC values, including, conducting investigations, representing ER at formal hearings, managing emloyee appeals, complex restructuring and business change, litigation and settlement negotiations.
•    Producing high quality written documentation including outcome letters and investigation reports.
•    Working in partnership with Employment Legal to provide guidance to key stakeholders on employment related litigation, using your up to date knowledge of employment law, HR practices, compliance, and governance issues to assess, mitigate and navigate risks. 
•    Coaching, training and development of HR colleagues and people managers on the effective resolution of ER matters through your own casework and ad hoc requests. Extending this to support of more junior members of the team and acting as an escalation point when required. 
•    Assignment to complex Employee Relations projects with the potential to act as a Subject Matter Expert for an allocated area of ER knowledge / activity.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

•    Be an experienced Employee Relations specialist, with extensive experience of managing the most high risk, complex and sensitive of people issues, including but not limited to end to end disciplinary, grievance, capability and appeal processes. 
•    Ability to lead the most complex of ER investigations, producing detailed and high-quality investigation reports and outcome letters. The ability to support, coach and develop more junior colleagues in this area.
•    Experience of providing risk-based advice and guidance in relation to complex redundancy, redeployment and TUPE programmes. M&A experience is desirable.
•    Experience of supporting / leading without prejudice discussions and drafting settlement agreements.
•    Experience of supporting litigation cases, independently or alongside Employment Legal.
•    Have in-depth knowledge of HR procedures / policies and employment law and track record of confidently Appling this in practice.
•    Experience in the coaching, training and development of HR colleagues and people managers on the effective resolution of ER matters, including leading Employee Relations workshops and training.  
•    Has excellent planning and organisation shills and a proven ability to prioritise work, multitask and pivot focus in a fast paced and dynamic environment. 
•    Experience of influencing senior stakeholders and building relationships in challenging situations, demonstrating strong and clear communication (written and verbal) skills and diplomacy.
•    Proactive approach to assessing / resolving issues strategically; anticipating consequences / risks and navigating around unforeseen obstacles
•    Experience of working within a complex, matrixed organisation and Financial Services is  desirable.

This role is based in: Birmingham, Leeds Chester or London with hybrid working. Travel as required to support hearings and ER related training.
