Base salary: £53850pa to c.£67300pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

The Senior EMS Engineer provides technical and professional support for Engineering Management Systems (EMS) and is responsible for developing standards, technical requirements and specifications to which the system will be designed and constructed. The Engineering Management System will integrate multiple supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) Systems and will ensure a safe and reliable operating environment on the HS2 mainline infrastructure.
About the role:
- Support the development of requirements, specifications and standards which deliver Engineering Management Systems (EMS) capability such that they meet HS2 objectives while mitigating environmental impacts, within the programme and budget;
- Provide technical expertise and advice relating to EMS to both the wider organisation and external stakeholders as required;
- Support in providing technical assurance for EMS, that it is in accordance with standards and technical requirements and where necessary support in resolving issues in accordance with HS2 Governance Procedures;
- Provide LOD Level 1 technical input against designated system;
- Act as the technical lead for commercially sensitive aspects such as tender evaluations;
- Support the development of technical solutions involving proof of concept;
- Support the management of technical risk for EMS;
- Support engagement and consultation with internal teams impacted by EMS design, particularly Infrastructure Management and Systems Delivery teams;
- Develop and implement the use of best practice and innovative engineering techniques, technologies and processes, driving consistency and helping to identify opportunities for efficiencies across Phase 1 and Phase 2 delivery teams;
- You will be expected to actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
About You:
- Able to provide specialist technical support and leadership on discipline-specific scientific, technical and engineering principles to project development / delivery teams, but knowing when to seek further guidance from Subject Matter Expert or others.
- Ability to communicate most discipline-specific technical ideas to colleagues, based largely on examples of application.
- Commercial awareness including understanding of cost delivery, schedule targets and the need to deliver an integrated solution that meets all functional requirements.
- Experience in managing multi-disciplinary engineering and safety standards, activity on large complex major projects/ programmes within a complex infrastructure delivery programme.
- Experience of managing competing project and engineering demands, with cost and schedule implications.
