Job description

Are you looking for a rewarding role in a dynamic Communications and Engagement team?

We are looking for someone who is great at working with people, can present key messages in an engaging and concise manner, and knows how to reach communities far and wide.

You will take an active role in developing engagement and gathering intelligence that informs local government decisions and improving council services. 

About the role

Using engagement and consultation expertise, this post’s objective is to provide intelligence to inform decisions, strategies, and plans.  By successfully engaging with local communities, breaking down barriers to participation and drawing insight from the feedback gathered, we support the council to make meaningful decisions.

You will work with council colleagues, elected members, and liaise with communities and partners to co-ordinate and deliver engagement activities. You'll also take a leading role in encouraging residents’ participation to inform service development.

About you

You will be an experienced and professional lead team member, confident in planning and delivering consultation and engagement activities, end to end. 

On a practical level, you'll demonstrate:

  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to act as a point of specialist expertise
  • proven practical experience of developing and implementing effective engagement plans, managing delivery, and evaluation of results
  • ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of people both internally and externally
  • ability to analyse consultation responses and present findings to a range of audiences in an engaging and concise manner
  • experience managing a varied workload, which will include complex projects and the production of quality outcomes to deadlines
  • diplomacy, tact, and political judgement
  • assertiveness with the ability to deal positively with difficult queries and situations, making judgements and identifying solutions

About the team

We are a small, friendly team, but we also have the chance to work with a wide range of people across different service areas within the council.  We are committed to developing enthusiastic individuals who can add value to our team and the council.

We deliver our consultation and engagement activity both online and in person. Our ‘Let's talk Lincolnshire’ platform allows us to better connect with our residents, and we want to build its usage even more. Face-to-face engagement activities may involve occasional travel within the county or work outside normal office hours.

Our team values the collaborative environment in the office, where we can connect with organisational officers and councillors. While we embrace flexibility and hybrid work options, having a team ethos and a strong physical presence is essential, especially to cover the demands of the service across core hours.
