Job Title:Senior Engineer- Combat Systems

Salary: up to £48,500 per annum dependent on experience

Location: Glasgow/ Bristol/ Portsmouth

We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Senior Engineer- Combat Systems. The role can be based in Glasgow, Bristol or Portsmouth and offers hybrid working as well as flexible working hours- individual circumstances will be discussed.

As the T26 Combat Systems Engineer (CMS) you will be reporting to the T26 Engineering Manager and T26 CIS CAM, and will act as the CMS SME, with general responsibilities for the technical maturity of a number of T26 CMS including the technical delivery of those systems to time, cost, and quality. A Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a comprehensive knowledge of Maritime CMS, you will be involved in various activities such as: defining scope of work, scheduling tasks, updating schedules with progress, and providing task completion estimates, managing technical issues, defining and updating technical risks, managing and leading configuration control including technical document efficacy and maturity.

Additionally, this role will involve interfacing with a variety of Internal and External stakeholders including suppliers and customer, whilst continually maintaining quality and demonstrating prescribed professional behaviours to a standard commensurate with the level of seniority for this position. Main Responsibilities:

· CMS Technical Lead when communicating with Internal and External stakeholders, MoD, Engineering Managers, Project Managers, Technical Authorities, and Integration Test and Trials team, to discuss business needs, confirm schedules, and to ensure technical issues/problems are mitigated accordingly.

· Leading CMS Technical Reviews with supplier to ensure emergent technical issues and queries are followed through to completion.

· Supporting Integration, test & trials and acceptance activities, and manage CMS observation reports raised at testing integration and installation by leading discussion with key stakeholders.

· Managing CMS safety issues and hazard mitigations by providing understanding and evidence from the CMS document set as required.

· Leading acceptance of CMS supplier produced document set by managing reviews and consolidation of comments from key stakeholders.

· Managing of CMS sub-contractors while on site during setting to work, commissioning, integration, test & trials (including Harbour & Sea trials) and maintenance activities.

About You:

Essential:

· Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation.

· Previous experience of operating within a technical team, and can provide coaching and mentoring to others within the team to support their development where required.

· Understanding of System Engineering design Lifecycle within a Naval Environment.

· Delivering and integrating equipment into a complex engineering programme

Desirable:

· Understanding of toolsets such as DOORS, Systems Architect and Windchill

· Knowledge of Combat Management Systems on other existing in-services ships

You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years
