Position Available: Senior Estimator
Salary : £45,000 + benefits, open to negotiation
Location : Surrounding areas of York, hybrid role for a candidate living further away
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Estimator to play a pivotal role in our clients dynamic team. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing competitive tenders and estimates for various building projects, ensuring meticulous consideration of fabrication, materials, transportation, site labour/plant costs, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Price tenders within specified parameters, collaborating with design, construction, contract, and other departments for optimal financial outcomes.
- Progress tender leads and prepare prequalification submissions.
- Monitor tender progress, prioritising strategies based on commercial considerations.
- Develop and maintain commercial contacts with clients, engineers, and representatives, contributing to marketing and selling efforts.
- Renew pre and past contract terms, ensuring proper establishment.
- Assist in presentations to prospective customers.
- Ensure accuracy and quality in the "Take off" of material quantities from Architects/Engineers drawings.
- Review tender documentation and submission requirements.
- Produce accurate and comprehensive estimates for large or complex projects in a timely manner.
- Undertake any other duties as required.
Educational Background:
- At least GCSEs in English, Maths, and Science.
- Preferred: HNC in construction or a relevant commercial qualification.
Job-related Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in estimating/quantity surveying in the structural steel industry.
- Prior experience within a structural steel industry is highly desirable.
Skills/Knowledge:
- Construction-related degree or qualification is preferable.
- Experience with construction software such as Revit, AutoCAD, bluebeam, and Tekla is advantageous.
- Proficient in Excel and Word.
- Effective communication skills with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Safety Responsibilities:
- Personal health and safety awareness.
- Basic understanding of health and safety policies and procedures.
