Your new role
This role provides accounting support for large capital projects (non-housing), for example, regeneration and public realm programmes. You will develop, monitor, and evaluate the council’s capital strategy and Capital Programme. You will manage work in progress and provide regular reporting to the project managers/Directors and prepare internal reports in relation to capital projects. You will also support the strategic vision of the Council through reviewing new proposals and preparing business cases and assess the viability of future projects. You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders and be responsible for the financing arrangements of all capital expenditure; ensuring that capital resources are used optimally.
Systems: Oracle and Excel
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified accountant and will have a good understanding of capital accounting and will ideally have expert knowledge of local government capital accounting regulations and codes of practice. You should be comfortable explaining complex information in an easy-to-understand manner to non-financial managers as well as work well with external partners
