Our partner is working with communities in often quite delicate and complex contexts, to empower them to influence decision makers positively and live more fulfilling lives. They are seeking a Senior Finance Officer, someone with strong bookkeeping, systems and all-round accounting experience to join the organisation through a period of change. The role will cover both their UK as well as international operations.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the accounts payable and receivables functions, ensuring the transactions are properly coded and with the appropriate supporting documentation, and maintaining the filing system.
- Complete month-end processes and journals for the UK office, and perform control account reconciliations and review month-end reports from international operations.
- Support in the implementation of the new finance system.
- Responsible for the payroll function.
- Prepare and submit GiftAid claims.
- Support in the preparation of the organisational budget, management accounts including budget versus actual variance analysis, and cashflow forecasts.
- Support in the year-end accounts preparation and reconciliation.
- Support in the development of and implementation of strong controls and processes.
- Point of contact for external stakeholders including the banks and auditor.
Requirements
- PQ accountant, with demonstrable experience of a broad range of accounting tasks, an understanding and practice of double entry bookkeeping.
- Exposure to systems, experience of working through a systems implementation is desirable, but an ability to understand and pick up new accounting systems is essential.
- Experience of working through improvements/changes in policies and processes, and supporting colleagues in implementing new procedures and processes.
- Experience of working in an international not for profit, specifically in a multi-currency environment and with an understanding of working across cultures and staff/colleagues abroad.
- Strong communication skills - written and oral - working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Flexible and adaptable working through a period of change.
This is a permanent role. The role is open to candidates with the right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship. The successful candidate will be required to be in the office 3 days/week.
