Senior Financial Accountant
CMS Distribution is one of Europe s leading specialist technology distributors, a growing and successful business with 500+ people across five locations in the UK and Ireland, plus locations in China, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden & USA.
You will be employed as a Senior Financial Accountant reporting to the Group Finance Manager. You will be responsible but not limited to, the following.
Senior Financial Accountant Role Responsibilities:
- Ensure a detailed knowlegde of all financial processes and procedures across the group
- Month End Close - Participation in the preparation of monthly management reporting pack.
- Month end close preparation including reviewing of Journal (accruals/prepayments and Cost Centre and GL corrections) posting.
- Review monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations with supporting schedules and update to Finance Manger prepayments, accruals, fixed assets.
- Review GLs and provide analysis for Variance from Forecast, Prior Year and month on month movements.
- Overhead analysis and cost control. Ensuring that overspends are understood and have had the required approval/Authorisation. Ensure functional/department leads have a clear overview of monthly spend.
- Review of Inventory for Core and overview and calculation of any provisions required.
- Updating of Internal Processes and Procedures
- Primary Finance Contact with all Inventory locations
- Assist in Stock Payment reviews
- Review of Freight reporting and accruals as a key risk area
- Assisting with the year-end audit and statutory accounts preparation
- Assisting in special projects as assigned.
- Implementing Process improvements and Documentation within the Finance Function
- Manage a team of junior accountants
- Provide training and development for the team, new joiners and also developing the current team to increase knowledge alongside their training and exams to help development team to the next level.
Additional Responsibilities
Skills & Personal Attributes
- SAP accounting software experience is essential
- Understanding of Financial Structure P&L and Balance Sheet.
- Experience of managing a significant workload, highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to report to key stakeholders
- Ability to work with management in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
- Qualified Accountant ACA/ACCA with at least 3 years in a a similar role
