Senior Financial Accountant – Reporting And Controls

About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, as the Senior Finance Accountant you will be responsible for ensuring the prompt delivery of financial reports and meeting the reporting needs of our shareholders- Ocado Group plc and Marks and Spencer plc. This position offers a dynamic environment for a technical accountant to excel and assume responsibility for delivering high-quality reports. The role would be the perfect first step into industry from practice.

As the Senior Finance Accountant you will be one of the primary points of contact for the Company's auditors, ensuring the effective, timely planned and execution of audit procedures. You will provide support in various areas such as; strategic developments, management Reporting and other finance related projects driven by the growth of the business. You will work closely with the controls side of the team to drive continuous improvement and a strong controls culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Monthly internal and shareholder reporting for Ocado Retail and maintaining the relevant ledgers in Oracle Fusion.
• Annual and half year financial reporting to shareholders and standalone statutory reporting including addressing specific note disclosures within year-end financial statements.
• Balance sheet reviews and analyses including presentation to leadership.
• Serving as one of the key contacts for the Company's auditors, offering support to ensure proper preparation and execution of year-end audits and interim procedures.
• Establishing strong partnerships with counterparts at M&S and Ocado Group.
• Actively contributing to the cultivation of a robust controls culture within the team and fostering a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Support lease and fixed asset accounting.
• Support ad hoc initiatives e.g. system improvements and technical accounting queries.

Key skills

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent)
• Analytical background and attention to detail when handling large volumes of data
• Knowledge of IFRS and experience of preparing/auditing financial statements under IFRS
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience of ERP systems (e.g. Fusion) would be advantageous but not essential
• Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the business
• Organised individual that thrives in a team environment
• An adaptable and responsive person that is open to change and challenging the status quo
• Dedication to detail, quality and accuracy
• Highly numerate and analytical with a keen eye for detail that is deadline focused and goal oriented
• Methodical, organised and responds quickly to change, whilst demonstrating a proactive approach
