Senior Global Internal Communications Manager (Team Lead)

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Global Internal Communications Manager (Team Lead) to join our Marketing department on a permanent basis.
Department purpose
The business development, marketing and communication team is integral to the setting and achievement of the firm’s global client strategy, which includes guiding the partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming the clients’ trusted advisers, building and maintaining long-lasting, deep institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally, and positioning the firm as the thought leader and most advanced law firm among the global elite law firms. The function works as one team across the globe with very close collaboration between the central groups, such as communications, and the professionals working in local offices, practice groups, sectors and clients.
Role purpose
The Senior Manager Global Internal Communications & Team Lead will lead and advance Internal Communications globally to engage, excite and inform partners and staff in support of the firm’s brand and business goals. The role requires someone with the drive and ambition to play a senior role in the firm and create support for a modern, strategic Internal Communications function.

Role and responsibilities
As the Senior Manager Internal Communications, you will:

• Create and implement a modern, effective Internal Communications strategy that aligns with our external communications and engages our partners and colleagues across the world
• Lead the Global Internal Communications team, developing their capabilities and introducing new best practices
• Play a key role in launching A&O Shearman, our exciting new combination, to our internal audiences
• Deliver impactful leadership communications for our senior and managing partners, working closely with our external communications team
• Plan and execute communications with partners, including monthly town halls and written updates, in collaboration with key stakeholders
• Ensure consistent and high-quality Internal Communications across our global offices, practice groups and other business teams, providing guidance and support to local communicators
• Work with senior colleagues in Communications to align internal and external messages on key announcements, such as annual results
• Lead and manage Internal Communications for major business change programmes, such as mergers and integrations
• Use data and measurement to inform and improve our Internal Communications strategy and tactics

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A substantial track record of achievement in an Internal Communications role in the corporate or professional services sectors
• Extensive experience of advising and influencing senior stakeholders and working in a matrix environment
• Experience of delivering engaging Internal Communications within a global firm or organisation, preferably with a focus on the US
• Experience of delivering change, merger and integration Internal Communications (desirable)
• Sophisticated knowledge of the issues affecting multinational businesses across sectors
• Confidence and the ability to juggle multiple requests, prioritise and act quickly to meet tight deadlines
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Ability to identify and develop compelling campaigns
• Ability to thrive under pressure
• A collaborative and supportive approach to working with your team and other comms colleagues
