Role Summary
Beyond Sport’s Senior Grants & Programmes Manager will be responsible for supporting the seamless implementation of some of Beyond Sport’s key programmes, with an initial focus on strategically leading a high priority global programme delivered in partnership with a leading international sport governing body.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a truly global organisation. The selected candidate will collaborate with the wider Beyond Sport team in both the US and the UK, reporting to the Director of Programmes, located in the UK.
You will:
Partner Management
Strategic management of complex partnership framework with diverse needs and considerations. Full oversight of communications between Beyond Sport and partners. Deep understanding of the ecosystem surrounding the partner including all stakeholders and advisory groups. Ability to navigate dynamics between partners central team and country-specific teams. Coordination of timeline, budget, calls, and reports requested by partner within programme. Research to enable deliverables to partners. Liaise with designers and consultants around programme deliverables. Support in development and design of strategy presentations to partners (sourcing images, quotes, key outcomes, general research).
Programme Management
Manage the grant application process from start to finish for funding programmes, including but not limited to: design of application, application assessment, funding recommendations, due diligence, budgeting, MEL, and program reporting. Organise and oversee communication between Beyond Sport and other programme delivery partners. Manage programme-specific budgets and produce financial updates for Director of Programmes and Executive Director. Lead programme data collection, collation, and analysis before compiling program reports for partners. Collaborate with the Communications team (in the US and UK) to track and provide info on partner and beneficiary activities, impact and stories for use in storytelling content creation. Collaborate with the Development team on resource mobilization of the programme. Work cross-functionally with Finance on account details, payments, and invoicing. Engage Board of Trustees in grantmaking process and identify suitable opportunities to report back on impact.
Project Management
Manage database and CRM to ensure programme data is updated in real time. Research capacity building needs and opportunities across nonprofit network. Ensure the inclusion of Beyond Sport’s monitoring and evaluation metrics in programme-specific data collection and reporting. Offer strategic guidance to the successful delivery of other Beyond Sport programmes with partners including ESPN, Rexona, Sun Life, New Balance, Under Armour, and the Z Zurich Foundation.
You will have:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a charity or foundation with focus on strategic stakeholder management and programme delivery
- Experience with different grant-making approaches such as participatory grant-making or grant-making to social enterprises
- Knowledge of the sport for development world and experience in speaking about it to a wider audience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical and problem‐solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Empathetic to partners’ priorities and objectives
- Tremendous attention to detail
- A highly organized approach to all tasks and projects
- A creative mind and a “think-outside-the-box” attitude
- Able to work efficiently, quickly, and to deadline – there is an immediacy element to our office that runs through everything we do

- Ability to work independently and without micro-management - our team is small and an expectation to work independently and being able problem-solve on your own is essential.
- Right to work in the UK
You may have:
- Proficiency with Excel
- Experience using CRMs
- Experience using digital application platforms
- Experience with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
- Experience with cross-cultural communications and an understanding of global perspectives and realities
- Additional languages, particularly French and/or Spanish, are a huge positive.
