Senior Graphic Designer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Designer to join our in-house Creative Studio. Your role will be to research, concept, and design for projects across all areas of the Matrix business; our beauty own-brands, retail clients, and growing travel portfolio. You will be responsible for the development of new and existing ranges, ensuring all design work is completed with excellence, on-time to brief, resulting in best-in-class, 360° creative output.

Responsibilities:

• Working closely with the Head of Creative, take a leading role on multiple large-scale creative and design projects and development of visual identities across different categories for multiple brands and clients.
• Be a ‘360° thinker’, applying best-in-class creative thinking across all touchpoints: branding, packaging, print, photography, web, video, animation and in-store.
• Create and present cohesive, engaging, and inspiring decks to sell your amazing ideas both internally to Matrix stakeholders and externally to key clients, helping to present ideas which will help win new business for the company.
• Work closely with the Matrix internal ‘Creation Hub’ alongside the product, innovation and insights teams on proactive projects.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure we consistently champion sustainability within all project work, in line with the business ESG strategy.
• Submitting work to Head of Design and project lead, taking accountability to plan ahead vs. project workflows to ensure input and direction is incorporated in a timely manner.
• Work closely with the brand and product teams, reviewing and critiquing all product samples, making sure that they are fit for purpose from a creative and design standpoint.
• Keeping abreast of trends and inspire the creative team through competitive shops, relevant publications, your own researching and leveraging the trends and insights team.
• Investigate and sample new technologies that can both broaden the role and evolve the outputs of the Creative team, levelling up our existing and future creative output by motivating and inspiring the team to upskill and think outside of the box to ensure we are producing work that wows.
• Be an ambassador for professional creative behaviour, throughout the team and the business. Offer assistance and positive, constructive feedback whenever asked and always demonstrate flexibility and willingness to participate.

Qualifications:

• A strong portfolio that must include experience of both creating concepts and designing for a variety of brand and marketing projects, with wide range of creative and design skills shown.
• Prior experience within the beauty and/or lifestyle industries for a minimum of 6 years
• An acute eye for detail, exquisite execution, flawless layout and aesthetic visuals.
• Experience of interpreting a marketing brief and designing assets that tell a story in a clear and compelling way.
• Great communication and collaboration mindset. This includes ability to articulate creative concepts and rationale to other team members or clients.
• Good knowledge of art working and packaging for print and production. Mindful of budget restrictions, environmental issues and print lead times.
• You must be able to handle numerous briefs and requests, all with varying degrees of priority and deadline constraints; must be able to multi-task and prioritise
• Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
• Design qualification beneficial but not essential
• Managerial experience desirable but not essential
