This is a new role for Stay Safe East, funded by MOPAC’s Safe Accommodation Framework. Stay Safe East is a partner in the ground-breaking Pan London Floating Support Service, led by Refuge. This role will assist us in increasing the accommodation options available for victim/survivors by providing much needed advocacy in conjunction with our specialist caseworkers.
You will use your knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation to ensure the rights of our disabled clients are upheld.
The role will also be vital in highlighting the barriers to safety experienced by disabled victim/survivors of abuse and their children in a policy and campaigning context.
Closing date: 3rd March 2024
Interview date: 19th March 2024
It is important that you are passionate, committed and care about the work Stay Safe East does as a by-and-for organisation supporting disabled people with experiences of domestic and sexual violence, hate crime and mixed/general crime.
We are looking for someone who understands the lived experiences of our clients, who are all disabled people. You will also be able to work in a boundaried way within the framing of safeguarding practice and legislation, and Stay Safe East’s policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will be someone who has worked in an accommodation-based setting, like supported housing, a hostel or a refuge. You will be experienced in advocating for the rights of your clients and able to translate this work to reflect Stay Safe East’s specialist work with disabled people.
