Purpose:
- Developing and implementing policies and practices to identify/mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments.
- Investigating accidents and environmental incidents and liaising with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence.
- Providing advice and training on safety protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organisation and government standards related to environmental heath and safety.
- Maintaining relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by the environmental performance of the organisation.
- Manage and maintain energy management data.
Accountability Level:
Manages an Operational Job Family for an entire region/country. Establishes operational/Job Family plans for job area over the short to mid-term (1-3 years) with a direct impact on results. Influences business decisions made by leadership on complex issues that are of strategic importance.
- Establish key business risk HSE improvement projects and manage their implementation.
- Identify and manage HSE budget requirements.
- Evaluate the skills and capabilities of Health, Safety, and Environmental personnel and structure the team appropriately, developing and recruiting to fill skills gaps.
- Ensure legal, regulatory, and certification compliance is maintained, and implementation of HSE procedures.
- Develop and drive HSE initiatives and manage the implementation of global HSE rollouts improvements.
- Manage the process for accident and incident investigations in relation to all incident reports (Accidents and Risks) and monitor issue resolution.
- Manage & issue monthly HSE reporting for business unit.
- Monitor HSE Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- Manage the Internal HSE audit schedule and ensure that significant business unit level issues are highlighted and managed.
- Review and revise HSE Standards and Processes and ensure compliance to Group HSE Policies, Standards and Standard Operating Procedures across the business units.
- Provide proactive support and guidance on all HSE related areas within the business unit.
- Identify relevant HSE training requirements, and ensure HSE training plans are in place and complied with for all affected personnel.
- Liaising with Customers/External Bodies/Suppliers on matters related to HSE.
- Ensure that effective HSE communications are in place and that consultation is embedded.
- Build effective relationships across all functions, the business unit management team and the Group HSE team.
- Passionately champion all aspects of HSE in the business.
- Provide professional support for business tendering activities.
