About the job

Job summary

This post is within the Healthcare Associated Infection, Fungal, Antimicrobial Resistance, Antimicrobial Utilisation & Sepsis Division (Clinical & Public Health group) of UKHSA. The mission of the division is to protect people from healthcare-associated and antimicrobial resistant infections, through world-leading public health microbiology, outbreak response, surveillance, antimicrobial stewardship, modelling, research and interventions..

This role will support a two year Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) project focused on creating a Digital Health Hub for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). This project aims to harness innovative digital technologies to ultimately transform antimicrobial one-health surveillance and antimicrobial stewardship, recognising the interconnectedness of AMR between humans, animals and the environment. The hub will serve as a nucleus, catalysing partnerships between researchers (engineering, physical, life scientists, clinicians, epidemiologists, social scientists & environmental scientists) and potential service users, including NHS clinical and public health professionals across primary, secondary, and social care settings, animal health, environmental agencies, the public, patient groups, charities, industry, and policymakers. Our aim is to increase knowledge and skills sharing, creating a space for new research ideas and the co-creation of innovative digital solutions.

We are seeking an individual with a working understanding of antimicrobial resistance or healthcare-associated infections and associated epidemiology. The successful candidate will need good data analysis skills, preferably knowledge of artificial intelligence based methods. The candidate will be expected to prepare and deliver training to multidisciplinary teams.
